Necco Candy

Necco is an acronym for New England Confectionery Company. Necco Candy Company is one of the oldest candy manufacturers in the United States. Necco is the oldest continuously operating candy company in the United States. Origins of the Necco Candy Company go as far back as 1901, when a small group of New England confectionery  companies banded together near Boston, MA. Chase and Company, which was founded in 1847 by two  brothers  Silas Edwin Chase & Oliver R. Chase became a large portion of what is today known as NECCO. The Chase brothers designed, created, and patented machinery specifically designed for candy manufacturing. They were the first people to patent and invent the very first American candy machine. In addition to the Chase brothers, two other New England based confectionery companies merged together in 1901 to become what is today the Necco Candy Company. They quickly became the largest establishment devoted entirely to confectionery production in the United States. As time passed, other candy manufacturers were acquired by NECCO,  starting with the Stark Candy Company and Pittsburgh-based Clark Bar America, Inc.
